Veronika Bromová Království / Kingdoms
Daniel Vojtěch, Olga Malá, Otto M. Urban, Jana Claverie
A Czech-English catalogue published to coincide with Kingdoms, a retrospective exhibition at the Prague Stone Bell House by one of the most prominent Czech artists, Veronika Bromová (1962). The artist uses digitally manipulated colour photographs as her visual media. The opening textual part of the catalogue includes four theoretical texts and documents Bromová’s works to date: Daniel Vojtěch’s text explores the imaginative forms and variations arising from her physical and visual experience, from the efforts to capture and participate in modern myth creation; Olga Malá’s text is concerned with the Kingdoms cycle; Otto M. Urban’s text with the Postcards cycle comprising of manipulated digital photographs as a visual expression of decadence in contemporary art and Jana Claverie reviews her entire artistic path. The second, more extensive part of the catalogue is pictorial and provides a representative overview of Veronika Bromová’s works, with the emphasis on the last ten years, mainly the cycles Kingdoms, Beauty and the Beast, Zemzoo, Places on Earth, On the Edge of the Horizon, Parts of Me – Parts of N.Y.C., Effect Defect, Autobiograph and Hathor's Handbag. The publication also includes the artist’s curriculum vitae, a list of exhibitions and a bibliography.
The book is produced in a bilingual Czech and English edition.
