Paul Cézanne

  • Translation: Jitka Hamzová
  • Graphics: Stanislav Kolíbal a Michal Burda

Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) is one of the key figures in European art. Together with Gaugin, van Gogh and Seurat he belonged to the generation of Post-Impressionist painters who ushered in the principal movements in the 20th century French art. The painting ceases to represent reality in its atmospheric and colour transformations and volatile natural moods and becomes an elaborated unity ruled by an autonomous order of colour and shape relations. This edition contains Cézanne’s interviews, thoughts and letters.
