Poetics of Music

Igor Stravinsky (1182-1971) is rightly considered as one of the founders of modern music. The quality of his works grew with time. His natural musical and artistic talent sprang from a clear conceptual background. His life and art were interconnected in an indestructible and inseparable whole. This is exactly why Stravinsky became one of the most influential figures in modern music and art in general. A series of seven lectures given at Harvard in 1938-1939, collected in this book, belong to the most seminal texts in the field of music science.
