Notes and Interviews
Georges Braque
French painter Georges Braque (1882–1963) is, together with Picasso, considered to be the founder and the most prominent representative of cubism. He had long lived in the shadow of Picasso’s fame, one of the causes being his restrained nature which did not allow him to participate in the life of artistic circles. It was only after World War II that he was recognized as one of the greatest modern painters. Compared to Picasso’s fiery Spanish temperament, Braque represents the virtues of French intellect: rationalism, moderateness and harmony which are reflected in aphorisms and five interviews that constitute this edition.
