London Same and Different

The book London Same and Different by Ladislav Nagy (1975) presents the reader with a number of essays dealing with the distinct phenomenon in the recent British fiction: books that portray the changes of London. Some of these books are historical mystifications, others return to the 19th century, which – as it appears – may be much closer to the present time than the reader would like to believe; and others depict London in its multicultural form which became a source of its pride. Among the writers dealt with in the essays are well known figures such as Peter Ackroyd, Martin Amis, Alan Moore, Zadie Smith and Graham Smith.
