Jinřich Zeithamml
Zdenek Primus, Gustav Erhart
A comprehensive Czech-German monograph on Jindřich Zeithamml (1949), an outstanding contemporary Czech sculptor, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and an artist in the tradition of abstract modernism. Characteristic of his work are elementary forms and shapes that carry a spiritual message. Although he uses the language of geometry, he treats it in a very loose fashion. Slight deviations and irregularities in the shape have a substantial meaning in his work. The geometric objects carry a hidden tension in their shapes; the mass is further dematerialized by surface cuts, gilding or silvering.
