František Foltýn - Košice–Paříž–Brno
Hana Rousová
Foltýn’s oeuvre can be viewed as an encyclopedia of European modern art; it comprises chapters influenced by expressionism, cubism, surrealism, chapters dedicated to abstract art or descriptive realism. The monograph which was published on the occasion of Foltýn’s retrospective at the Moravian Gallery in Brno contains essays as well as a list of works. The goal of this extensive project was to present the life and art of the Czech modernist painter František Foltýn (1891-1976), who is – together with František Kupka – considered one of the greatest Czech non-figurative painters.
