Eva Švankmajerová - Czech

The first short monograph on Eva Švankmajerová was published on the occasion of the retrospective of her paintings and graphic works Deník 1963-2005 (Diary 1963-2005) which took place at the Špála gallery in Prague. The book maps the unity of the author’s life and creation, the intersection of her literary and artistic works. In her oeuvre, a poem, a diary entry, a dream, an image or a painting have always been in close relation. The book also contains an essay by the foremost theoretician of the surrealist group František Dryje, a personal note by Jan Švankmajer and an indispensable biography and a list of exhibitions and films.
