Družstevní práce – Sutnar Sudek

The primary objective of the publishing house Družstevní práce (“Cooperative Work”) was to publish valuable literature with high-quality artwork in great numbers, and thus cultivate the public taste. The progressive visual style representing the publishing house, which put forth its message and promoted its output, was designed by Ladislav Sutnar (1987-1976) in an extraordinary collaboration with Josef Sudek (1898-1976). The book which is published on the occasion of an exhibition in Prague’s Museum of Decorative Arts concerns itself with the history of Družstevní práce, the work of Ladislav Sutnar and Josef Sudek for Družstevní práce and with the publication agenda of Družstevní práce in the cultural and social context of the 1920s and 1930s. The book was published in co-edition with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
