A Hrajku from a Plum Grove

A Hrajku from a Plum Grove

Mojmír Preclík

The poetic oeuvre of Mojmír Preclík (1931-2001) is not great in size, although it evolved over many decades. It is related to his beloved profession of sculpting. Characteristic in his writing is his deep understanding and love of the place where he lived and worked – the Kryštof valley in Jizera mountains; fascination with the creative process (he often took photos of his hands dirty with clay, he installed sculptures in the open air) and playfulness. He produced brief, dramatic literary creations, a peculiar variety of the Japanese haiku. Poems and photographs stand next to each other in this book as two accounts, which plays an important role in understanding Mojmír Preclík.
