The famous La Décadanse performed by Monika Načeva and David Cajthaml in front of the packed gothic hall at the Brussels Town Hall and in the Namur’s Félicien Rops Museum

The opening of the first part of the exhibition Decadence. Bohemian Lands 1880 – 1914 took place at the Brussels Town Hall on 29 January and has had a huge interest from the public. The curator Otto M. Urban has placed a dark, introspective collection dealing with the inner feelings of the artist and the agony of the individual into the dark rooms of the town hall.

After an opening speech by the Mayor of Brussels Freddy Thielemans the floor was given to Milena Vicenova, the ambassador of the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the European Union; Jana Hendrichová, the State Secretary and Marie Kousalíková, the deputy of the Prague Mayor Pavel Bém. Vladana Rýdlová thanked the Belgian hosts and project partners on behalf of Arbor vitae and the curator Otto M. Urban explained more about the project and invited the audience to the opening of the second part of the exhibition in Namur’s Félicien Rops Museum. He also presented the authors of the remake of Gainsbourg’s famous song La Décadanse, the singer Monika Načeva and the painter and scenographer David Cajthaml who performed it live for the Brussels audience.

Both authors performed the song again on Saturday 31 January in the Namur’s Félicien Rops Museum where the second part of the exhibition dedicated to the "demon of love" has been opened.
