The successful exhibition will be held at the Slovak National Gallery from September 25 until November 15.The Slovak National Gallery
Esterházyho palác, Riečna 1, Bratislava
The exhibition Brussels Dream is conceived as an attractive probe found into the culture during the transition period between the “dark” 1950s and “golden” 1960s. In cooperation with leading Czech collection institutions, will present Expo 58 not only as an important social crossroads and historical landmark of postwar world history, but also as a synonym for the legendary Czechoslovak success crowned by many awards (Laterna magika, Polyekran, works by Czech glassmakers ...). The absolute victory of the Czechoslovak pavilion at the World Fair Expo 58 can be seen also as opening the door to a new lifestyle, which is presented to the visitors in the second part of the exhibition. The varied and attractive selection of exhibits presents the design wave of the “Brussels style”, which has currently come back into fashion, the atmosphere of the early 1960s and the rise of the popular culture. The exhibition is accompanied by a guide available in Czech, Slovak and several foreign languages as well as a catalogue with graphic design inspired by the “Brussels” typography and there is also rich accompanying programme.
