Cecil’s Quest by František Skála Goes to New York

Cecil’s Quest, an exhibition by the Czech artist František Skála, will be opened in Czech Center New York on 15 April. Its settings reflect an exhibition that took place in Prague two years ago and that accompanied the introduction of a comic book of the same name on the Czech market. Cecil’s tale is told in New York through three hundred and twenty-two arranged photos available in English translation. The exhibition comprises large size photos and artefacts related to the origin of the comics. On the following day František Skála will take part in a debate in the prestigious Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. On Monday 20 April Mr. Skála will appear in the International Studio and Curatorial Programme, where he will speak about his works in general and will also show a film that came into being as part of an exhibition in the Moravian Gallery. The exhibition that ends on 12 May as well as the accompanying debates have been prepared by Czech Center New York in cooperation with Arbor vitae societas.
