František Skála - Cecil´s Quest

Cecil’s Quest, an exhibition by the Czech artist František Skála, was opened in Czech Center New York on 15 April. Its settings reflected an exhibition that took place in Prague two years ago and that accompanied the introduction of a comic book of the same name on the Czech market. Cecil’s tale was told in New York through three hundred and twenty-two arranged photos available in English translation. The exhibition comprised large size photos and artefacts related to the origin of the comics. On the following day František Skála took part in a debate in the prestigious Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. On Monday 20 April Mr. Skála appeared in the International Studio and Curatorial Programme, where he was speaking about his works in general and also showed a film that came into being as part of an exhibition in the Moravian Gallery. The exhibition that ened on 12 May as well as the accompanying debates have been prepared by Czech Center New York in cooperation with Arbor vitae societas.
